A truck driver drove into oncoming traffic for 20 minutes at high speeds before dying in a fiery crash.
The truck struck several cars and numerous others were forced off the road, but no one other than the truck’s driver was hurt.
The driver was an insulin-dependent diabetic. “He was basically slumped with his head down, bobbing around, with arms hanging down at his side. What would your liability be if you had not medically qualified this driver or even worse if the driver had been medically examined and was not qualified and the doctor still issued him a medical card? Believe it or not the FMCSA would hold the company to be at fault. WHY? Because the FMCSA does not regulate the doctors; only trucking companies.
